Description

I'm a little sick of imaging the usual suspects, so I went looking for some potential targets by looking at some large mosaics of Cygnus and Cephus.  I saw this little isolated blob of nebulosity roughly between the North American Nebula and the Elephants trunk.  With a little research I discovered it was SH2-124. This object hasn't been studied much as I could find very little written up on it.

It isn't imaged very often.  It's dim, especially the OIII and SII.  I managed to tease those out some more.  Kind of reminds me of the Cocoon Nebula with it's deep dark dust veins running through it.

The overlay shows the planetary nebula PK094-00.1, which just looks like a red star at my image scale.  Just to the left of it is a faint little blue blob. I took a bit of hunting, but I found out it's called LDû 1.  Here's the details on it:  https://planetarynebulae.net/EN/page_np.php?id=94
